On the evening of Saturday, June 11th, 2016, Urban Prep sophomore Christopher Fields was shot and killed near his home in Chicago’s Back of the Yards neighborhood.
Mr. Fields was not the intended target, but rather was the victim of a senseless act of violence. A suspect in this murder has been arrested. In addition to his academic pursuits at Urban Prep, Mr. Fields was a promising young boxer. He competed at the Hudson Campbell Sports & Fitness Center with the nickname “Sandman”. We remember Mr. Fields not as a statistic, but as a young man full of promise and talent who was loved by his family, friends, and Urban Prep. Christopher Fields will be deeply missed.
