Alfred B. Lee, Jr., Urban Prep’s first Director of Alumni Affairs, drowned on April 17, 2011 at the age of twenty-nine.
Alfred was hired as Urban Prep’s Alumni Director because of his unique understanding, born out of personal experience, of the challenges facing African-American males in college.
In addition to leading our efforts to support Urban Prep’s alumni, Alfred was a dear friend to many people at Urban Prep, including Founder & CEO Tim King, who had mentored Alfred since he was in high school.
A scholarship fund has been created in Alfred’s name. The Alfred B. Lee, Jr. Scholarship will be awarded annually at Commencement to an Urban Prep graduate who best exemplifies the stellar attributes that made Alfred such a wonderful person.
