A Letter to Urban Prep Families Regarding COVID-19

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are prayerful and hopeful that in this time of crisis in this country, that all of you and your families are safe and healthy. As you probably heard, due to the continuing challenges of COVID-19, Governor Pritzker announced that the statewide mandated school closures will be extended through April 30th.

While the impact of COVID-19 and this extended time away from our normal routines and way of life will leave an indelible imprint in our minds, souls and spirits, the impact on our young people, particularly the academic and social-emotional growth of Urban Prep students will be significant to say the least, with ramifications evolving beyond this school year.  Thus, it is important to us at Urban Prep that we work to provide structure and support to our young men to regularly engage them in meaningful learning activities and ensure that our students remain connected to the Urban Prep family during this time of uncertainty.

On Monday, April 13th, our campus leaders, teachers and staff will begin executing additional Remote Learning Plans for each campus.  All families will receive the details of the Remote Learning Plans before Friday, April 10th.

This situation remains fluid and changes may occur on a daily basis. It is essential, therefore, that we have reliable contact information for you. If you have not already done so, please click the following link and complete the survey as soon as possible: https://we-b.lv/UPSurvey20200315

During the school closure, your young man may continue to go to a public school to pick up free food boxes containing three days’ of breakfast and lunches for students. Please note that some of the locations, days and hours for pickup have changed due to the week of April 6th being recognized as Spring Break.
