PLEASE GET UP! AND HELP URBAN PREP…

On Thursday, July 30, Governor Pat Quinn signed into law a bill that allows the creation of 45 new Charter schools in Chicago. This change in the law has led to Urban Prep Academies' decision to apply to the Chicago Board of Education to convert our Contract schools in East Garfield Park and South Shore (opening in 2010) into Charter schools. If approved, this change will greatly benefit Urban Prep, and the young men we serve. Converting to the Charter school model allows us the freedom and flexibility to fully implement our rigorous college-preparatory curriculum and unique code of conduct, as well as foster a positive school culture.

We hope that you will join us in this effort by signing the electronic petition to convert Urban Prep's East Garfield Park and South Shore Contract schools to Charter schools (click the link to the right).
