Classes In Session At Charter Schools Despite Teachers’ Strike

Classes might be in session on Monday at Chicago’s charter schools, but they aren’t totally unaffected by the strike being staged by the Chicago Teachers Union.
CBS 2’s Dorothy Tucker reports charter school kids and their non-union teachers find themselves caught in the middle on the first day of the teachers’ strike.

Chicago charter schools not impacted by CPS teachers strike

Charter schools in Chicago are not impacted by the strike.
The strike poses a unique challenge for Urban Prep in Englewood. The charter school's 550 students share the building with a school shuttered by the teacher strike.
"We actually don't know what we should expect during this, so it's new to us, and we're learning as we're moving along," said Urban Prep's Tim King. "We're remaining focused on educating our students."
